MINAMI YOSHIDA

よしだ みなみ

札幌生まれ。幼少期より工作や絵を描くことに親しみ、美術を専門とする中高一貫校で学んだ後、18歳で上京。東京造形大学で彫刻を学び、以降、国内外で作品を発表している。
「美術は人に寄り添うもの」という考えのもと、主に粘土を用い、人や動物、生き物の姿をモチーフに制作する。柔らかな造形とどこか親密さを感じさせる佇まいを通して、人と他者、生き物とのあいだに生まれる感情や距離感、日々のなかにあるささやかな関係性をかたちにしている。
現在は大きな犬と画家とともに暮らしながら、制作を続けている。
Minami Yoshida was born in Sapporo. From an early age, she grew up drawing and making things by hand, and later attended a secondary school specializing in art. At eighteen, she left Sapporo for Tokyo, where she studied sculpture at Tokyo Zokei University. Since then, she has exhibited her work both in Japan and internationally.
Guided by the belief that “art is something that stays close to people,” Yoshida works primarily with clay, creating sculptures inspired by human figures, animals, and other living beings. Through soft, intimate forms, her work explores the emotions, distances, and subtle relationships that emerge between people and other forms of life in everyday experience.
She currently continues her practice while living with a large dog and a painter.
